OMNI Channel 6 News: July 2024 Update

Museum Collections Team Engages in Part II of the USHRAB Grant Program

The Utah State Historical Records Advisory Board (USHRAB), administered by the Utah Division of
Archives and Records Service, has announced the Moab Museum as a recipient of its Spring
2024 grant funding to preserve and provide access to Utah’s history.

The Moab Museum was awarded $7,475 to digitize part II of the Channel 6 News Archive in Collaboration with Jim Mattingly of Omni Productions, Inc. In the fall of 2022, Jim Mattingly contacted the Moab Museum to propose a project to preserve approximately 1200 hours of film representing 2200 individual news broadcasts during a seminal period in Moab’s history from 1989 to 2000. Museum staff are now working to upload the first half of these digitized records to our YouTube page, which can be accessed via moabmuseum.org. USHRAB’s grant is funded by a State Board Programming Grant from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission at the National Archives. USHRAB assists public and private non-profits, local and state government entities in the preservation of historical records.
