Janisse Ray: Wilderness Writing Retreat

Join Janisse Ray, an American writer exploring borderlands and edges between nature and culture, landscape and story, for a three-day Wilderness Writing Retreat at Red Cliffs Lodge, a few miles outside of Moab, UT, up Highway 128 (River Road). The all-inclusive retreat will feature her collection of essays that was published as Wild Spectacle: Seeking Wonders in a World Beyond Humans.

The retreat will be limited to 10 available slots. Click here for more information and to register.

A public book signing of Wild Spectacle will take place with Ms. Ray on Friday, November 10, 2023 at Red Cliffs Lodge from 6-8 pm. This is a free event and open to the public. Copies of Wild Spectacle will be available for purchase.

About the author: Janisse Ray believes in the power of stories to transform—a single person, a community, or a nation—and leads writing workshops on creative nonfiction, grief journaling, the flash essay, a journey in place, and writing your own story. In The Magical Craft of Creative Nonfiction she teaches not only technique but how to court the mystery in order to make your writing sizzle. Ray has written or edited over a dozen books, beginning with Ecology of a Cracker Childhood, and has been published in more than 40 anthologies. Her books have been translated into French, Turkish, and Italian. Ray is the recipient of a Pushcart and an American Book Award among many others, and has been inducted into the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame.
