Exhibit Opening: Tracing the Story of William Grandstaff

Moab Museum Members are invited to join us for an opening reception for a temporary exhibition entitled Tracing the Story of William Grandstaff. Grandstaff was an early settler of Moab, a Black frontiersman who once ran cattle in the canyon that now bears his name. This temporary exhibition draws on recent genealogical research, presenting a timeline of Grandstaff's life based on the work of Nick Sheedy, Lead Genealogist of PBS's Finding Your Roots.

Guest Jerry Elias, musician and writer, will speak about his work researching Grandstaff's story and adapting it into an operatic composition titled The Ballad of William Grandstaff, which will be performed as part of the Moab Music Festival on September 4th.
