Recording Stories: Community History Workshop October 27th, 2022

Stories and oral histories are some of the most rich and valuable resources in any museum’s Collection. They can also be a treasured part of a family’s keepsakes. If you are interested in learning about collecting oral histories or recording audio of friends, family, or community members, we invite you to join us for this introductory workshop! In this hourlong session, we will introduce the basics of oral history collection, share some interview tips for recording compelling stories, and provide examples from the Museum’s Oral History Collection. We will also introduce you to the Moab Museum’s Listening Stations, user-friendly mobile recording units that are available by loan to help you capture and share stories. Whether you already have a potential interviewee in mind or you’re just curious about how to get involved with this exciting storytelling work- this workshop is for you!

This hourlong introductory workshop will be held at the Moab Museum on Thursday October 27, 2022 at 2pm. Registration is limited: please submit your registration here.

This event is presented as part of the Museum’s Community History Program, supported by the Utah Humanities Council.
